HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE IN 2013
Jan 04, 2013
Is your New Year’s Resolution to see an improvement in your online presence? There are many things you can do to help achieve this goal, some of which are free. Use the checklist below to see how you can grow your business online this year.
Is your website up to date?
A website is not like a printed publication – once it has been created it can be updated regularly. Make sure your written content is always as fresh as it can be, and if you feel the design needs a face-lift, have a look at other websites in your niche to get an idea of what works and what doesn’t. The more attractive and user-friendly your website is, the more likely you are to get businesses from it.
Does your website work across all browsers and platforms?
Check your website's functionality across all versions of Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera. Also, if you can, test it on a mobile device. If it doesn’t, it may be worth getting a mobile website so you can extend your online presence to mobile users.
Are you using Google Adwords effectively?
Adwords is one of the most effective ways of attracting business. If you are already using them, now is a good time to review your keywords to see if they are still effective.
Do you have a video on your website?
A video can greatly increase your online presence, especially as YouTube is now linked with Google. There is less competition amongst videos than websites, increasing the likelihood of your video showing up in searches.
Are you updating your latest news regularly?
You should update your latest news at least once a month to keep your users interested, and to give Google more notifications.
Do you write a blog?
Just like latest news, a blog guarantees regular notifications to search engines. After a few months of submitting a weekly blog post you’ll also have a catalogue of useful information showing how well you know your field.
Do you use social media?
Get connected with your customers and other companies in your niche through Facebook, Twitter and Google . You can increase your online presence by directing followers through to your website both on your “About Us” section and through posts you make.
Do you dedicate time to improving your online presence?
If you set aside a few hours a week to check your social media accounts, update your blog and promote your website online, you are guaranteed to see an improvement in your online presence.
