INSPIRING IDEAS FOR BLOG WRITING
Feb 05, 2013
Finding inspiration for your next blog or latest news post can be tough, as there seems to be so many elements needed to create a killer post. These are the sorts of things Google recommend for quality content:
• Trusted information
• Written by an expert or enthusiast who knows the topic well
• Entirely unique
• Factually, stylistically and grammatically correct
• A well balanced argument from a reliable source
• Well thought out and edited
• Information and analysis that goes beyond the obvious
• Content worth sharing, bookmarking and talking about
Let’s put it this way: it can’t be faked. To blog about almost anything, I think it requires a willingness to become enthusiastic about anything. When you are passionate about a subject it shows in the work you produce – all the researching, writing and editing seem like a worthwhile investment.
But how, exactly, do we remain passionate about a subject? Even if it’s your own business, sometimes it’s difficult coming up with ideas. Here are a few tips to help you rekindle that enthusiasm and start blogging about just about anything:
Question Things
One of the main reasons people search for articles is because they have a question. If you start asking these questions yourself, you can discover a new perspective on a subject. Through doing so, you are also getting into the mind of your potential reader, which will help you produce something they will want to read.
For example, if the subject was “van hire”, you could ask “why hire a van when I could use a removal company?” or “How far can I travel with a hire van in 24 hours?” Once you start asking questions like this, you are likely to find an ideal subject for your next blog post.
Find Answers
The essence of blogging is finding the answers to people’s questions, so they don’t have to. This is probably the most time-consuming part of the blog-writing process, but it’s the most important part. Spend time reading around a subject, exploring different angles and building your own opinion on things. There’s no crime in getting ideas from other people’s blogs either, as long as your post is written in a unique style. This post, for example was inspired by an article called How To Blog Successfully About Anything on SEOmoz.
Keep a Record of Ideas
One of the main causes for “writer’s block” is that creativity can’t really be mustered up. Ideas come at any time of day, whether it’s brushing your teeth, chatting with colleagues or replying to customer emails. If you note down these ideas as they come to you, when you next sit down to write a blog post you’re guaranteed to have something to write about. Keep a pen and paper handy, bookmark interesting websites and blogs, or create a word document with a list of possible blog titles – anything that helps you remember!
