5 SIGNS YOU NEED TO UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE
Sep 23, 2013
The internet moves so fast nowadays that it’s difficult to keep up. With Google’s algorithm updates happening once a month, design trends that are always changing and constant updates in how social media is being used, it’s important to stay up to date with what’s going on.
Whether it’s a simple content update or you think you need a whole redesign, here are 5 signs that your website needs an update…
The last review/testimonial was more than 6 months ago.
The whole purpose of testimonials is to show your potential customers that you’re a trusted service that is used regularly by happy customers. A lack of testimonials gives the impression that you’ve not seen any happy customers recently, which is a sure way to put people off.
The image gallery is dated.
Website visitors love browsing through images of products, facilities or events from your organisation, but it’s not a true representation of your company if they are from 5 years ago. In a world where people upload photos to Facebook and Twitter seconds after they were taken, your photos really need to be up-to-the-minute.
You are getting very few/no enquiries through your website.
After all, the purpose of your website is to inform visitors about who you are, and encourage them to make contact with you. If you have noticed a decline in your online enquiries, it’s definitely worth looking into how your website can be updated.
The date at the bottom of the page says the wrong year.
If you scroll to the bottom of the page and the year is out of date, that’s a sure sign that your website hasn’t been touched in a while! Your web company can easily change this date, but if it hasn’t changed in more than three years you may want to consider updating your design.
It’s stopped working on all platforms.
Have you tried viewing your website in other browsers recently? If part or your entire website isn’t showing in a particular browser, it’s definitely time for an update. Similarly, you need to check how your website looks on a mobile. Nearly 40% of all internet browsing is done on mobile devices, so it’s worth looking into getting a mobile website, or making your
website responsive.
