GAIN MORE BUSINESS IN 2015 WITH THIS 2 MINUTE MOBILE TEST
Jan 14, 2015
If you’ve read our other blog post about SEO in 2015, you’ll know that mobile friendly websites are an absolute must for businesses this year.
With half of all local searches now being carried out on a smartphone or tablet, and with 50% of mobile searches leading to a purchase, a mobile friendly website should be high on your priorities list if you want to gain more online customers this year.
But how, exactly, do you start making your website mobile friendly?
We think it’s good to start with a mobile website test – a 2 minute health check that will help you identify where your website is falling short on mobile devices. It’s quick, it’s easy, and most importantly it will help you see what your customers are seeing when they find you online.
Think about what you would usually do in 2 minutes: you might write a tweet or send a quick email, or read a blog post like this one. It’s not a lot of time to take out of your day, so why not give our mobile website test a try and see what you can find out about your website!
THE 2 MINUTE MOBILE WEBSITE TEST
What you’ll need:
A smartphone or tablet
An internet connection
Step 1: Take out your smartphone or tablet, and visit your website.
Step 2: Count how many seconds it takes for your website to load. If it takes more than 3 seconds, you will have already lost more than half of the people searching for your website on-the-go.
Step 3: Once your website has loaded, have a look at your homepage and ask yourself these questions:
Can you recognise your logo?
Is your strapline, welcome text, or key selling point easy to read?
Are your contact details easy to locate?
Do you have to zoom in to see any text or images?
Are there clear links/buttons to the other pages of your website?
If you answer “no” to any of these questions, make a note of this as it could be preventing your website visitors from finding what they are looking for.
Step 4: Have a quick browse through the most important pages of your website, such as the About Us page, the contact page, and product pages. If you spot anything that is difficult to read, or that doesn’t work as it should, make a note of it.
