SITE SPEED COULD BECOME MORE IMPORTANT IN GOOGLE SEARCH

Page speed has long been an important factor for ranking well in Google. In 2010, Google even grafted it in as a ranking factor on its search algorithm.
But while site speed has always been “behind the scenes” in Google’s guidelines for websites (with quality content and mobile optimisation taking the spotlight), today’s news indicates that it could soon be more noticeable.
Today there have been reports of a red “Slow” label appearing in mobile search results, similar to the “mobile friendly” labels. Interestingly, the sites that are appearing as “Slow” are operated by Google, which leads experts to believe that Google is merely testing this label.
Google has not commented on this activity yet, so we will have to wait and see how this story unfolds. Either way, it is a reminder to all website owners that site speed is still very much a requirement for ranking well in search engines!
