3 Brands that are doing GREAT at Social Media, and what you can learn!
Aug 07, 2017
Social media has not only changed the way we receive news and interact with each other but also the way we interact with businesses. Many companies now have at least one social media account if not more; each social media channel opens a company up to a whole new pool of potential clients.
We’re taking a look at the 3 brands that are using social media in the right way, looking at examples of their campaigns and giving you some helpful tips you can apply to your own social media strategy.
Innocent Smoothie
The smoothie giant has created a friendly, witty and chatty persona across all social media channels-especially Twitter where they have acquired 282K followers so far.
So, how do they do it? Start conversation.
Ongoing tweets include comments on the day to day weather and dad jokes- both of these topics are highly ‘retweetable’ and relatable to people’s day to day life. They’re consistently fun, even in their marketing messages, which help to engage people.
One thing to take away from Innocent and a tip that we think more brands should listen to is- Speak like humans! Try to cut out the buzzwords and jargon to sell your product. Make jokes and reply to people with witty comebacks which can include mentions of your product and service.
Tweets that mix conversation with promotional tweets do the best. Just remember to have fun and keep on top of key dates so you have some time to think about how you should react! For example, when the clocks went back Innocent were ready…
L’Oreal
L’Oreal encourages internal staff to use the hashtag #lifeatloreal to showcase the culture of the business. The cosmetic brand uses this hashtag as a way of becoming an attractive employer and in turn improves employee engagement.
Their strategy is based upon a study that whilst consumer trust in brands is falling, in friends and family it is stronger than ever. So, it’s the idea that people trust their peers on social media when it comes to L’Oreal being a great place to work. Other benefits of creating a hashtag are that people are constantly talking about your brand in a positive way. If you look at the hashtag you’ll see happy faces all round!
If you want to boost a sense of community within the business as well, this could be one way to achieve this.
Oreo
Oreo’s Twitter account became the centre of attention (or court) when they jumped on a blackout at the 2013 Super Bowl which quickly went viral. Since then they are consistently posting new, creative ideas nearly every day. It was this moment where they began to tap into more popular events that were happening and putting their own twist on it.
Their social media strategy means they have to react quickly and work in the moment, which means they are always in the know about events, news stories and trending topics on Twitter.
Have fun with your product and service. Comment on popular events that draw attention to your brand in a positive way.
