Food for Thought: How do you know when your business needs a new website?
May 26, 2017
First impressions completely and utterly count when it comes to your businesses website- 75% of your web visitors judge credibility based on your website design! Attract customers with a super sleek website and you’re guaranteed to notice a difference. The content, style and responsiveness all matter. We’ve put together a list to help you decide whether it’s time to update your site.
It’s slow loading
People will close sites if they’re not loading quickly enough – we’ve all done this. Page loading time is an important part of any website’s user experience, with 40% of people abandoning a website that takes more than 3 seconds to load- every second counts. There are a number of ways to cut the loading time in half, such as optimising photos and opting for simpler, more efficient design.
It’s not responsive
The total number of users now doing all their research on their tablet devices has grown dramatically in the last 2 years, surpassing PCs for the first time. However, 61% of users will leave your website immediately if it’s not responsive and hard to use. If you are a business with a desktop-only website, you need to update it. It just doesn’t cut it anymore. Don’t worry, there is no need for two different sites, you need just one single responsive website that runs smoothly and looks good, whatever the device it’s viewed on.
You can’t update it
It’s important that there is a quick and efficient way of adding new content to your site. This will help to keep your brand active with more chance of building trust in your brand and maintaining strong engagement and relationships with your target audience. Your business could be losing customers if your website is outdated.
You don’t have a blog
Having a blog and putting out quality content consistently can help to establish you as an expert in your field and build trust amongst your customers. Every time you upload a new blog post full of expert advice is another indexed page on your website, which means it’s one more opportunity for you to show up in search engines and drive traffic to your website through organic search; more quality blog posts equals more website visitors. Blogs are good for driving long-term traffic as not everyone will find a post on the same day as it is published!
It’s not socially engaging
Momentology is a sort-of buzzword of the marketing sector. It essentially means catching people in the moment; you need to make your website easy to access throughout your consumer’s daily life. Make it easy for people to keep up to date with your activities and share content they like onto the platforms they use. This is where the social sharing buttons come into use. Including small buttons on your website which link to your social media channels, such as Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest, allows people to easily find you socially. Whilst including a link to your website on all social platforms will allow also people to be directed to your main site without having to type it in Google. With a large percentage of people checking their mobiles over 150 times a day…there’s a good chance, you can reach them.
