Food for Thought: How often should I be posting on Pinterest?
Aug 04, 2017
Pinterest has over 175 million monthly users, which has grown tenfold since 2015. It’s a massive social platform that inspires its visitors, opening them up to so many new products and services. If you’re not aware of the benefits of using Pinterest in a business sense and aren’t sure why you would need to use it, have a read of our ‘4 Reasons why you should take notice of Pinterest!’ blog post.
If you’ve decided ‘yes I need Pinterest’, your account is all set up and you’re ready to start ‘Pinning’ but have no clue when to post, and how frequently – we’ve got some tips on how to make the most out of Pinterest.
Frequency
If you’re new to Pinterest, just 5 pins a day is a sufficient amount- this means that you have more time to really think about the quality of each Pin. If, however, you want to build up your content quicker, 30 Pins a day is the recommended amount. With every Pin comes a new chance to gain exposure leading to a bigger audience so, it is really about how much time you can allow for Pinning. It’s been found that users get the best results when Pins are spread out throughout the day, so using a site like Buffer may help to schedule Pins and limit the time you spend on Pinterest.
Timings
Pinterest has such a wide variety of subjects and categories and with new Pins added 24/7 it’s hard to know what the best time is to pin to gain the most exposure. A good place to start is aiming to pin around the afternoon and evenings – basically whenever there is free time. Buffer has recommended taking note of the time users want to take a quick break to daydream on projects, recipes and vacations. If you want to dig deeper, here are a list of timings that you could also stick by depending on your goals and subject:
- Saturday, 2am- 4am and 8pm – 11pm in general have a spike in activity.
- Monday: Fitness Motivation
- Tuesday: Gadgets in Technology
- Wednesday: Inspirational Quotes / #WednesdayWisdom
- Thursday: Fashion
- Friday: GIFS and general Friday Feeling-esque Pins
- Saturday: Vacations and Travel
- Sunday: Food and Craft Ideas (- information from Buffer)
