The New Firefox Quantum
Dec 01, 2017
November saw the new release of Firefox Quantum; a new internet browser that claims to be faster than Google Chrome and operate at double the speed of a slightly older version of Firefox. Mozilla have also said that the new Firefox Quantum uses less memory than other internet browsers, and has been designed to help people get things done quicker and more efficiently.
As well as the new speed, Mozilla worked on creating a new user interface for Firefox Quantum, called Photon. The user research team at Firefox studies how people browse the web, and from there went on to design and create an interface that looks great on all displays, regardless of the device being used.
Quantum also has more choice in search providers than any other browser; 60 are pre-installed across more than 90 languages. Performance improvements have also been made within the browsers core, as well as a new CSS engine called Stylo. This new CSS engine brings together state-of-the-art innovations from four different browsers.
A whole host of Firefox employees and volunteers from around the world worked together to create Quantum. In numbers, there are an impressive 265,252,859,191,742,656,903,069,040,000 ways to customise the new Quantum toolbar.
Watch the video below to find out more about what can be done on Firefox Quantum.
Currently available on Windows, Mac and Linux, why not give Firefox Quantum a go? Firefox Quantum will also be available on iOS and Android in due course.
