The Options When it Comes to Promotional Video
Oct 25, 2016
A promotional video is a great way to show off your business online, it can be shared on social media, posted on YouTube and utilised on your website too. But which sort of video do you opt for? The classic, upbeat testimonials endorsed type that will appeal to all audiences or a more humorous and energetic video aimed at making people laugh whilst also bringing attention to your business?
Here at The Creation Lab we offer all of these and more, so we would love to suggest some advice on the types of videos and the businesses they work best for. Here is our list of top five video styles for business.
1) Infographic
The infographic style video can be used across almost all business types; it is a universal design that will appeal to all different audiences. It can make some quite serious subjects or businesses seem more exciting and can widen the audience that it interests.
An example of this type of video can be found below from when we worked with Cuttings the pawnbrokers, creating a fully animated video to help explain the process of how pawn broking works.
2) Funny
You might think that funny videos only work for not so serious businesses but think again. We have recently produced a short video for the Royal British Legion Association – a very serious cause dedicated to its work with Britain’s Bravest – where we created a hilarious spoof style video that works perfectly to encourage people to raise money for the charity.
Not only is it a great way to get people talking about you, it also means more people are interested and therefore watch your video. Obviously it’s important that the video has some relevance to you and your company, but we say the funnier the better!
3) Informative
An informative style video can be one that uses testimonials and interviews from your staff and customers, or it can be one that simply expresses the facts. For example, we have worked with companies such as Wollen Michelmore who simply wanted an informative video that incorporated the beauty of Devon and their dedication to the place.
These types of videos are great if you want to get as much information across as you can as well as incorporating both an upbeat, but also relatively formal style throughout.
4) A mix of real life and infographic
If you like the idea of using both your staff and an animated character in your video, a cross over video could be perfect for you. By using both, you can show your business in real life and what you can offer your customers, as well as keeping them entertained and giving your video a bit of a humorous edge over others.
This is a great style to work with if you want to show your customers exactly what you can provide them, as well as that you don’t take yourselves too seriously.
Some of the cross-over style videos we have provided include Wiltshire Fostering and Bryn Elian; they are both very different in how they were made, but also very successful campaigns.
5) Using a presenter
Alternatively to all of these methods, you could instead hire a presenter to talk about your business directly to the customer. This style also works well with animated elements, like pop ups, that will keep the customer engaged throughout.
A video we made that uses the presenter method is the SDI videos. They wanted to discuss the products they work with, so they used this method to interview someone about them. This gave a professional and approachable feel to the company.
All types of video are useful for a company in that they can help create an image for you online. Whichever style you choose, you can reach more people and form a more welcoming feel around your business.
We specialise in creating the perfect video for your business, whatever that may be! Take a look at some of the videos we have created and get a feel for what we could offer you. Or, if you’d prefer, get in touch with one of our friendly members of the team here.
