A Simple Guide to...LinkedIn (for a Business)
May 22, 2017
LinkedIn is the dark horse of the social media platforms. It keeps a low profile, perhaps due to the professional nature of its users. The platform is ideal for finding a job or freelance work, promoting a home business, or connecting with joint venture partners.
It’s unlike other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter – so forget about posting what you had for breakfast, no one cares whether it was avocado on toast on this platform. LinkedIn is a place for professionals to network online; over 65 million professionals use LinkedIn to cultivate their careers and businesses.
If you are reading this as a freelancer, have a business that caters to other businesses (B2B), or have a business in which networking for partners or clients is important, you should have a profile on LinkedIn and here’s how to do it!
We’ve created a simple guide below to starting out.
Setting up LinkedIn
If you are a business wanting a company page, you will need a personal account to then add a separate page. You will be able to access the company page through your personal page but they will be kept separate in terms of uploading any photos and sharing any company updates. Add as many admins as you want to the company page.
Setting up a Business Page
Now you are an official user, it’s time to set up a business page. LinkedIn is a great platform for business; it offers the chance to recruit talent, offer insight into the industry and become a specialist in your area of the market. Using LinkedIn for business is all about the network you build and the connections you make – for example; the people you work with and the people you meet at events.
Tips to promote your page
Now that you have set up the page, the next step is to actually have people find and interact with your page. From a compelling description to a visually dynamic cover photo, be sure to make your page attractive and true to your businesses branding. Furthermore, be sure to include keywords so people can find your LinkedIn Company Page through relevant searches. Here are our simple steps that you can take to create a great LinkedIn Company Page that motivated people to click ‘follow.’
We’ve covered the basics so; we hope this has helped you get started. LinkedIn is a platform best learned by using it. So, have a play around- you really can’t make any mistakes.
