Why you Should Target a Location on your Website
Jul 13, 2018
Many websites fail to target a specific location, simply down to the reason that they target more geographical places than where they are based.
However, it is extremely important to target a location on your website; in fact, Google can reward you for doing so! We’ve put together three reasons why you should add a location to your website.
Users tend to search based on location
When you Google something, you’re likely to search based on location. Think about yourself. If you’re looking for a restaurant to go to, you probably type in something along the lines of ‘Restaurants in Dartford’, for example. Many of your customers will search the same way, so adding in a location will benefit you. Even if they don’t search for you by location, it won’t hinder your chances of being found.
Location adds integrity
Websites with a location and contact details tend to be more trustworthy to users than websites without one. A 2014 survey showed that 73% of users lost trust in a brand when their website had incorrect location information- a huge number that’s simply not worth debating! Businesses that include their physical location in the form of a Google map or similar as well as relevant contact information will prove that potential clients can easily contact, or visit, you if needed.
Google can reward you!
A recent Google algorithm update, Google Possum, has meant that websites with location-targeted content are rewarded now more than ever. Google can reward you in a number of ways including improving your search rankings, pushing you further to the top of Google and thus, improving your sales too. Add your location to meta tags, H1 tags and throughout the content for best results.
