6 POSITIVE FEATURES OF GOOGLE’S NEW MOBILE UPDATE
Apr 22, 2015
USUALLY, WHEN GOOGLE ANNOUNCES A NEW UPDATE TO THEIR ALGORITHM, WEBSITE OWNERS ACROSS THE WORLD WORRY ABOUT HOW THEIR WEBSITE WILL BE AFFECTED.
However, for Mobilegeddon, Google’s latest update, it’s easy to know which websites will suffer: those that do not have a mobile friendly label.
However, for websites who do have Google’s mobile friendly label, there is nothing to worry about – in fact the update is good news!
We look at the positive aspects of Mobilegeddon as it rolls out this week:
1. You can benefit from the mobile friendly algorithm at any time. This means that you don’t have to panic too much if your website is not mobile friendly yet – there is still time to enjoy the positive effects of the update if you switch to a responsive design.
2. It will not affect desktop searches. This update is purely for mobile search, so you do not have to worry about your desktop ranking.
3. Google makes it easy to know if your website is mobile friendly. First, there is the mobile friendly label, which will appear when your website is searched for on a smartphone. If you are still unsure, Google even provide you with a test to find out.
4. The algorithm works in real time. Although it takes a little while for the mobile friendly label to display in search results, Google will recognise the changes in real time, meaning that you will reap the benefits straight away.
5. Small businesses can benefit. It doesn’t matter how big your company is, or how many pages your website has – if your website is mobile friendly, then your search engine ranking will increase on a mobile phone.
6. It is more significant than the Panda and Penguin updates. It is predicted that more than 11% of search results will be altered due to Mobilegeddon, which is a positive sign for those who have invested in responsive website design.
We are excited to see how the face of mobile search will change as Mobilegeddon starts to take root. And if you want your website to benefit from the update, just contact us to find out more!
