WHY HAVE A VIDEO ON YOUR WEBSITE?

So we’ve looked at how a website and a blog are beneficial for your business, but what about videos? They are definitely worth having on your website, which is why The Creation Lab offers video production for businesses, whether big or small.

Firstly, having a video on your website is an effective SEO technique. Because Google highly rate them, a website with a video will be higher on search results than a website without. The video itself would appear in search results, so they are great for generating traffic to your website.

A well-informed, interesting video will catch a viewer’s attention for two minutes or more, and that’s before they’ve even explored the site. The average internet user stays on a site for 42 seconds, but nearly six minutes on a video site, meaning an 833% increase with the presence of a video.

With YouTube’s success as a clear indicator for the popularity of videos, what better way to grab your audience’s attention? Instead of having to sift through 300 words of text describing your business, a quick video gets the message across in a more effective way. Even if a viewer is switching between different open tabs on their browser, the presenter is still audible. It is unlikely that they are going to avert their attention however, as Google has proved by claiming 64% of 18-40 year olds take some kind of action as a result of a video. This could be by forwarding it to a friend, talking to friends and family about it, or finding out more about the products of services advertised.

It’s in every business’ interest to keep ahead of their competitors, and at the moment not many companies are uploading regular videos onto their websites. But soon it will be an essential SEO technique, as Google may soon disregard any sites without video. In the next few years, everyone will be using video to promote their businesses, so it’s a good idea to get ahead of the rest.
