CHOOSING THE RIGHT VIDEO FOR YOUR SMALL BUSINESS
Aug 01, 2013
Earlier on in our blog we outlined 8 types of web video for businesses; these included the promotional video, product demo and staff interview. But which video type is right for your small business?
Firstly, you need to work out what you are trying to achieve through your video, and how you want it to affect viewers.
The following are, in our opinion, the main reasons for a web video. Have a read and see which best suits your needs:
Brand Awareness – you may be a relatively new business, and you want to show viewers that you’re an authentic organisation, with a clear brand identity.
Experts in the Industry – you want to show that you’re an authoritative voice within your industry, and that you’re available to answer any question people throw at you.
Showcasing Products – perhaps you have new products or services available that you’d like to show off to your customers.
Personality – You want to show what you are a real company made of real people who are brilliant at what they do.
Reaching a wide audience – You want a considerable amount of awareness from this video across a range of demographics.
You may find that you fit under more than one of these categories – that’s fine, the great thing about video production is that it can be tailored to you. Let’s have a look at the best video type to choose for your requirements…
Promotional – This type is great for brand awareness, highlighting the strengths of your company. Depending on the tone of the promotional video, it can also reflect the personality of your businesses.
Product Demos – Fairly self-explanatory, the product demo video is ideal for showcasing products. If produced in a “how to” style, it can also demonstrate that you are experts in the industry.
Training – Training videos are also an excellent way to show that you are experts in the industry.
Staff/customer interviews – Not only does this video style promote brand awareness, it also shows the personality of your business.
Viral videos – These are videos with the intent of being shared around social media – they often come in the form of music videos or short comedy sketches. The purposes of a viral video are to reach a wide audience, but depending on its content it could come under any of our listed categories.
We thought it would be fitting to end with a video we’ve produced recently – this is a promotional video for Oxford Fostering, called “Abby’s Story”. Enjoy!
