10 IDEAS FOR SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
Dec 05, 2013
While we all have the best intentions for our social media accounts – wanting them to be glowing representatives of our companies - it’s sometimes difficult to know what to write.
So here are 10 ideas to help you be more social on social media. That’s two for every day of the working week!
1. Questions
Questions are great because they require a response, and people love giving their opinion on things – whether it’s as important as a breaking news story or as trivial as, “When’s an acceptable time to put up the Christmas decorations?”
2. Behind the scenes
Give your followers an insight into how your business works through photos, video clips or personal updates from different employees. If it’s someone’s birthday in the office, post a picture of the cake, or if you’re getting new products ready, document the progress online.
3. Promotions/Giveaways
One of the main reasons people follow businesses online is in the hope of getting promotions, discounts and giveaways. If you’re having an online sale of or offering one of your services at a discounted rate, make sure you broadcast it on social media! You could also run a competition on Twitter or Facebook to attract more followers.
4. Plug your content
If you make any updates to your website, whether it's latest news, a blog post or new pages, don’t forget to share it. Also, don’t be afraid to post links to your older articles, because your social media following will always be growing, and you never know when an article might go viral!
5. Share interesting links
Spend a few minutes searching for news in your industry, and post anything that catches your interest.
6. Promote your other accounts
There’s nothing wrong with a polite request for a Facebook like or a follow on LinkedIn. It also gives a good impression to your customers, letting them know that you have a wider sphere of influence than that particular social media page.
7. Respond to customers
It sounds obvious, but make sure to reply to people who talk to you publicly on social media. It gives a great impression and can even spark hilarious conversations.
8. Facts & Quotes
Posting interesting facts or inspiring quotes will not only enlighten people’s days, but they are easy to retweet, 'like' and share.
9. Talk about your products
Although you should be sparing with self-promotion, that’s not to say you can’t be passionate about what you sell! Talk about your products and services in a way that makes them desirable to your followers – @nandosUK do a great job of this by posting mouth-watering images of their food.
10. Be friendly!
Finally, just be yourself! Greet your followers each morning, say hello to new followers and acknowledge special events like bank holidays and other significant events. Demonstrate that you are a company made of real people, and your social media circles are sure to increase.
We hope you now feel inspired for your future social media posts. Any questions? Just comment below!
