Festive Surprises To Get Customers Clicking Onto Your Website

Dec 06, 2016

With Christmas fast approaching, now is a great time to start thinking about how you can optimise your website for the festive season and get lots more visitors! There are plenty of ways that you can appeal to the merry masses, whether it be a competition where they can win prizes, giving your website a Christmas makeover, or even having a video that you can post; make sure you are ready for those busy months by taking advantage of all the online opportunities that Christmas supplies.

We have listed the top ways to get those fingers clicking and mouths wagging this Christmas with website add ons and specially made extras. Take a look and make sure you’re not missing out on what we have to offer this year.

1) Website makeovers

A great way to get customers into the spending spirit is to give your website a makeover so it’s ready for the festive season. And when we say a makeover, we don’t just mean a sprinkling of snow raining down over the site; we mean a full blown face-lift!

Although you may think this is time consuming, changing your site so that it is in line with the months and seasons shows that your site is continually updated and gives the reassurance that all the information will therefore be correct. Customers like to see that sites aren’t outdated, and it will build up a trust between your company and those using it.

A great tool for doing this is to have animated header images, just like we have on our very own website! This way they can be easily updated and in line with the month. The best part is, once you have done one year, you can just recycle them for the next!

2) Competitions

Competitions are a great way to get people interested in and talking about your website, after all, who doesn’t love a freebie giveaway! Whether it’s an exotic holiday, or just a bottle of prosecco, any perk will work to get customers interested in your company and what you do. You could do something that relates to your company, or you could just do a daily game of chance, like an advent calendar or Christmas stocking filled with goodies to give away.

We have previously had a find Matt the elf game on our website, where if the customer managed to find the hidden elf in a scene, they would be entered into a raffle for the chance to win a bottle of prosecco. It provoked a lot of interest and gave us lots to post about on social media too!

3) Festive videos

Another way to get more people visiting your site during the Christmas period is to produce a festive video that can be posted and shared via social media. You could do almost anything, from a sing-a-long in the office, to a sprout eating contest! With Facebook live now available it’s easier than ever to produce your own videos and lots more often too! But be sure they stay professional; they should have relevance and share- ability as well as being a good quality picture.

Companies like John Lewis have proved the effect a Christmas video can have on a business, if you do it yearly you can even get customers waiting for it and create a buzz around your firm.

Getting customers involved in this can also be a great idea; videos where you are out and about and interacting with customers on a personal level are great for forming a trust and closer relationship with your clients.

So, now we’ve given you all the information, all that’s left is for you to get started on transforming your website into a winter wonderland! If you want some help in doing so, we are professionals so don’t hesitate to get in touch! Just click here, or call us direct on 01322 252 292.
