Could Snapchat Be Used As a Marketing Tool For Your Business?
Jan 10, 2017
There are so many social media outlets for you to promote your business on these days, but which ones should you invest your time in to get the best results?
Snapchat isn’t one that is used a lot in business, but according to recent statistics 71% of people aged between 18 and 34 are using it and it’s even pegged as the most likely app to overtake Facebook in the rankings! So, if your business is aimed at engaging this particular age group, surely you should be utilising the app?
Here’s some ways that your business can get involved with snapchat and engage with more people!
1) Filters
With the introduction of Snapchat filters early last year we have seen some businesses teaming up with the app to create their very own! Brands such as McDonalds and Pepsi have all had their very own personalised filters made to promote their company or offers.
Considering the amount of people who use the filters on Snapchat daily, and also share them by sending them to their friends, a filter would be a great way of getting your brand out there in the world. It’s also a great way to show the fun side to your company depending on the type of filter you make.
2) Stories
Snapchat is unique in that it gives you the opportunity to post snippets from your day. By having this available in your business, you can give an insight into what you get up to day to day. It also means you have the opportunity to interact with you customers in a more personal way; for instance you could do competitions where customers have to send in snaps of them doing something in particular to win. You could also send vouchers or codes, and as Snapchat is only a ten second clip, you could monitor who is screenshotting and using the vouchers.
A well as this, the snaps from competitions could be used across other social media platforms as well, so it’s an all-round great idea really!
3) Behind the scenes
By showing your customers a snap of what happens behind the scenes, you can create a loyal following and drum up more hype around your business. You can have some fun with it and engage people more if you show the real life happenings to your everyday at the business. By doing this you are showing how your brand is different to any other, you can show days out, birthdays at the office or even Monday morning’s vs Friday afternoons.
You can also surprise your customers with private content that they wouldn’t see elsewhere. This is a great way to get people talking about your business, companies like Maynard’s, NBA and GrubHub, have all used the app to show funny, real life content that is exclusive to Snapchat followers, and gets people talking.
4) Sneak Peaks
With Snapchat you can offer your customers sneak peek previews of any new products you have coming out. This way of teasing people is great to get them interested in your company and have them waiting for your posts on a regular basis.
It could also mean that people are more prone to sharing it with their friends, which will mean more people are hearing about and becoming interested in your business.
5) Personality
Snapchat allows your business to have more of a personality in the eyes of your customers, after all it can be constantly updated or even personalised to particular clients. For example you could send out birthday messages to people or just a hello every now and again.
By doing these small but meaningful updates, you show your customers that you are willing to go that extra mile to interact and communicate with them, whilst also subtly reminding them of your presence.
So, using Snapchat means you can have a bit of fun with your customers whilst also giving them remote content that can’t be seen anywhere else and a behind the scenes look into your company. However, it probably won’t be for everyone, it all depends on what your business offers, who you are targeting and the brand you are trying to create for yourself. But if it is and you’re not yet involved with Snapchat, maybe now is the time to try it out!
