Bitesize Blog: 3 Ways to Optimize your Pinterest for more Exposure!
Jul 31, 2017
Like many social media platforms, it takes time to build up a following. You can’t expect to just set up a profile and Pin a few visuals to boards and that be it; you need to put in some hard work to get the results you want. We’ve found that by doing the following three things to the best of your ability can make a huge difference in the results you see.
Profile
Optimising your profile is something you need to do just the once, so take some time getting it right the first time. It is pretty straight forward- there’s a name field, a description box and you can add a website link. However, Pinterest is a search engine, so remember to add your keywords in order to be more discoverable.
- Name Field – Instead of just your name/business, ‘The Creation Lab,’ add at least one keyword, ‘The Creation Lab | Digital Design Agency, Kent’. Adding your location can really help! This is because when people search topics, people’s profiles come up too.
- Description box- This is a great opportunity to add some more keywords – tell visitors what your company offers. For example, The Creation Lab –A creative new media company based in Dartford, Kent, specialising in Web Design, Video Production, Virtual Tours, Product Photography and Content Writing!
- Photo – Use the same photo that is on your other social media networks, this means people are more likely to recognise you.
Boards
Similarly to your profile, your boards should include keywords as well. For example, as we are a digital agency specialising in designing websites, instead of naming a board ‘Web Design,’ optimise it more by calling it ‘Web Design | Inspiration and Tips’ giving it a solid explanation of what the user will find on the board.
Your board has a description section which is yet more space to optimise your content. A list of keywords separated by commas is sufficient, if you want to write a short sentence as well that is up to you although it doesn’t matter as long as keywords are present.
Pins
A Pin is made up of a bold title and a description, if you optimise these two components then your Pin is more likely to stand out from a crowd of Pins. Use hashtags in the description, keep it relevant and think about what people are likely to search for.
