I’d Like A Promotional Video - But What Can I Do With It?
Mar 21, 2016
The prospect of having a promotional video produced for your company is an exciting one, but what can you do with it, once it’s been handed over to you?
Here at The Creation Lab, we understand that a video is an investment and that you need to know that you will get something out of it in the long-run. You need to ensure that as many relevant people see the video as possible, but where do you start?
Put the video on your website
By adding a video to your homepage, you’ll bring your website to life. If you have Google Analytics then a big focus point for you may well be your website’s bounce-rate. If it’s higher than you’d like, a video is pretty much a guaranteed solution for reducing this.
Just think, if people are clicking that back button within 2 minutes of landing on your website because they lose interest or can’t find what they’re looking for, then a video will give you the opportunity to catch them before they leave.
Share it on social media
It can sometimes be tricky finding things to share on social media which direct viewers straight to your website, but a video is a fantastic solution to this. If you work in an industry offering people a service, you can guarantee that your target audience would also benefit from some tips and knowledge in that industry.
We recently created some how-to style infographic videos for Cash Shop, a company offering services such as pawnbroking and personal loans. These three videos explain how their main services work: Pawnbroking, Buy Back and Sell Your Goods. We deployed these on social media and brought a fantastic amount of traffic to the relevant pages.
You Tube Pre-Roll
You know when you go to watch a video on YouTube and have to sit through the first few seconds of an advert and sometimes, just sometimes, you ignore the “Skip Ad” button because you’re intrigued to see what will happen next? This could be your video.
Perhaps you own a home improvements company – a promotional video could be used to target people who are watching DIY themed YouTube videos. This is targeted advertising as the people who will be exposed to the video are people who are already improving, or looking to improve, their home. When the advert begins, they are already in a DIY mind-set and, even if they realise straight away that they’re watching an advert, if it’s a topic of interest then they will give you a chance.
Although with YouTube you pay for each view, someone has to watch this for at least 5 seconds for it to count, which gives you 5 seconds to capture the attention of a potential customer. Sound tricky? Not for Jack and his imagination!
Targeted Facebook Advertising
If you have a superb promotional video you fancy sharing on Facebook, it doesn’t just have to be your company’s page followers who see it. By ‘Boosting’ it, you can push the video out to people on a particular geographical area, interest, age or even gender.
Another option is making your video appear in the Facebook timelines of people who have previously visited your website before. This is a stupendous tool as, not only are you retaining their interest and potentially guiding them back to your website, but also giving them a gentle reminder that your company still exists.
Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality is an exciting, innovative option for making sure people see your video and, chances are, your competitors won’t have even heard of it, let alone jumped on the bandwagon.
Augmented Reality is the process of enhancing an experience by adding a digital overlay on top of what’s physically in front of you, and a way of bringing your static logo or printed advertising to life.
Imagine if someone is stuck in traffic behind your van, and they’ve got nothing better to do than sit staring at your company logo. Imagine if there was a little bit of text under your logo, urging that person to pick up their phone and scan the logo. Imagine if they did this and your promotional video springs into action right before their eyes! This could be yours.
Hang on, this all sounds great, but I don’t have a video…
