4 Alternative Ways to Gain Website Visitors
Oct 14, 2015
Think the only way to gain website visitors is by having the number 1 spot in Google? Although your Google ranking is important, there are plenty of other ways you can gain visitors to your website, both online and offline!
Focus on your website
If your website isn’t good enough, there is no point being at number 1 in Google, because people will not stay to browse the site. It’s like a shop selling plastic diamonds hoping to be a sell-out just because it’s positioned in Hatton Garden. Give your website visitors a reason to stay, by making sure your website is designed beautifully, is mobile friendly, offers useful information and is easy to navigate. If visitors are staying on your website for longer, Google will view your site as useful, and is more likely to rank it higher.
Dive in to Social Media
Your website is not the only place where people can find you online. Your social media profiles will also be found in search engine results, opening up many more opportunities for you to engage with potential customers. Recently, Google gained access to Twitter’s online content, meaning that even tweets will appear in search results. So, what are you waiting for? Devise a strategy for your accounts and start directing people to your website through social media.
Gain and respond to online reviews
John-Paul Sartre said, “Words are loaded pistols”, and this is certainly an accurate description of online reviews; they are often the deciding factor in people contacting or avoiding you. With Google, YELP, Facebook and others now providing consumers with an outlet for reviews, it’s becoming easier for people to make their mind up about a business before they even visit their website.
As a business, there is plenty you can be doing to manage and cultivate your online reviews. Firstly, you can encourage your customers to write a review at the end of a transaction, letting them know how much you value their opinion. Secondly, make sure that you reply to negative reviews, whether you think they are accurate or not. Offer a pleasant and compassionate response, and aim to redeem the situation however you can.
Go Offline
We know this is a little out of character for us – you know, being a digital agency. However, we would be the first to admit that nothing beats a phone call or a face-to-face conversation with a potential customer.
While it is essential in today’s world to have a glowing online reputation, it cannot fully replace good old fashioned human contact. If you are a local business, think of new ways that you can reach your community with your products or services, whether it’s arranging or visiting an event, booking a space at an exhibition, or something more creative. The more you promote yourself within the community, the more likely it is that the community will search for your website online!
Do these 4 things well, and are likely to see a boost in your website traffic, an increase in your enquiries, and even an increase in your Google page rank! For more help and advice about gaining more visitors to your website, please just get in touch with us.
